Fall 2023 Sound Checks Season Kicks Off October 6th

Our popular emerging artists concert series is back!

In addition to live music, each show will feature local DJs, food trucks, and a cash bar on site. Weather permitting, a majority of the concerts will take place in the Susan Runyan Maier Sculpture Garden. Attendees will enjoy the return of fan favorites and several new acts, along with a few seasonal surprises.

The schedule for this fall’s Sound Checks is as follows:

  • October 6 – Harbour with Aaron Fisher and Ghost Fleet

  • October 20 – Wild Party with Brenna and the Boys

  • November 10 – Zandi Holup with Khegan McLane and the Raccoon Wranglers

  • November 22 – John Inghram presents: a Tribute to The Band’s “The Last Waltz”

  • December 21 – Fancy Hagood with Matt Mullins and the Bringdowns

“We’re so excited to welcome a new season celebrating local musicians and emerging artists live at the Clay Center,” said Al Najjar, president and CEO of the Clay Center. “Sound Checks represents the very best of Charleston, offering something for music lovers of all kinds.”

Sound Checks is presented thanks to support from The ROQ, Roger L. Nicholson, Chris Blanchard, and Encova Insurance. The Clay Center’s performing arts and visual arts offerings are presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture, and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
