Paper Marbling Workshop with John Bielek

Paper Marbling Workshop with John Bielek

We're excited to announce the return of Paper Marbling workshops with John Bielik in our Truist Foundation Art Studio!

Each workshop is intended to be an introduction to the Middle Eastern style of paper marbling. This variety of water-based marbling is different from most marbling done in the world today. Historically appropriate materials and techniques of the paper marbler will be the foundation of this class. Instruction will include discussion and application of basic tools, materials, and technique. There will be plenty of time to create a variety of patterns, so students will take away several sheets of their own marbled paper! Aprons will be provided, but it is important to wear clothing that can become stained with paint. This warning applies to shoes, also.

Ages 8 and up, under 12 to be accompanied by an adult.

Limited space is available; advanced registration required.

The Clay Center’s performing and visual arts offerings are presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture, and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
