Ragamala Dance Master Class

Saturday, Feb. 18, 1 – 2:30 pm, $10/person

Actively experience South Indian culture!  Join this informative and interactive session and be trained in the South Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam.  You’ll learn the traditional salutation, basic postures, rhythmic and gestural technique, and the four aspects of expressive dance. Students will also study Kolams (which translates to “beautiful lines”).  Made of rice flour, Kolams are traditional South Indian decorations that are hand-drawn each day in front of homes and places of worship. A sacred aspect of south Indian culture, these beautiful designs are drawn to evoke the Goddess of Prosperity. Students will draw several designs on paper, then create them with rice flour on the floor to experience the traditional method.

Open to all ages and levels of experience.  Call 304-561-3562 to register!
