Jim Hurst kicks off Woody Hawley Concert Series at Clay Center

Get ready for savvy guitar picking and impeccable vocal range as Jim Hurst brings his unique blend of bluegrass and country to the Clay Center’s Walker Theater Saturday, Oct. 6. This Woody Hawley Concert Series show begins at 7:30 p.m. and opens with West Virginia-born singer-songwriter Chet Lowther.

This Woody Hawley Concert Series show begins at 7:30 p.m. and opens with West Virginia-born singer-songwriter Chet Lowther.
 
Known for his unique style influenced by flat-picking greats like Doc Watson and finger-picking giants like Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, Hurst has guitar playing down to both an art and a science. Experience the one-of-a-kind technique that has gotten him on stage with artists like Trisha Yearwood, Sara Evans, Travis Tritt and Claire Lynch and the Front Porch String Band in a performance that will leave you spellbound.  
 
The Woody Hawley Concert Series features celebrated singer-songwriters in an intimate, cabaret-style setting. All shows take place on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available for this and other upcoming shows, including Rob Carlson, Michael Johnson, Kristy Jackson, Cheryl Wheeler, Jonathan Edwards and Peter Yarrow.
