A birthday party at the Clay Center is a unique way to celebrate your child's special day.

Choose one of these special birthday packages:

Basic Birthday Package includes:

- Private party room
- Fun printable invitations
- Gallery admissions for up to 10 children (additional children are $5 each). One parent per child (two parents for the birthday child) is admitted free. All others must pay applicable admission rates.
- A day of fun in the Clay Center's Avampato Discovery Museum for you and your guests!
- A 10% discount in the BB&T Little Shop of Wonders for all guests.
- A free gallery admission pass for each child to be used for a future visit.

Clay Center Member Price: $50*
Non-Member Price: $75*
*Up to 10 children, additional children $5 each

Deluxe Birthday Package includes:

- Private party room
- Fun printable invitations
- Gallery admissions for up to 10 children (additional children are $10 each). One parent per child (two parents for the birthday child) is admitted free. All others must pay applicable admission rates.
- "Birthday Bucks" for each child to spend in the Clay Center's Gift Shop
- A private (age-appropriate) science demo.
- A whole day of fun in the Clay Center's Avampato Discovery Museum for you and your guests!
- A 10% discount in the BB&T Little Shop of Wonders for all guests.
- A free gallery admission pass for each child to be used for a future visit.
- A special Clay Center gift for the birthday child.

Non-Member Price: $150*
*for up to 10 children, additional children $10 each


Birthday Party Add-ons:*

Planetarium Show: $1.50 per person ($1 for Clay members)
Giant Screen Film: $3.50 per person ($2.50 for Clay members)
Planetarium & Film: $5 per person ($3.50 for Clay members)

All birthday reservations are subject to availability and black out dates apply. Parties are for children up to age 12.

Although Clay Center staff members do not lead parties, they are always on hand to help or answer any questions.


Party Planning Guidelines

You provide:
- Birthday cake or cupcakes* (no candles, please)
- Decorations, plates and plastic ware
- Pre-packaged juice packs*
*Please note: No other food or soft drinks other than those above are permitted.
Food and soft drinks are available from Embassy Suites, the Clay Center’s exclusive in house caterer, for an additional cost.
Not permitted:
- Candles
- Helium balloons
- Piñatas
- Tape or staples on painted or wood areas of walls


Reservations

Parties may be reserved up to 3 months in advance of the current month, and must be reserved no less than 2 weeks prior to your desired birthday date. Call (304) 561-3562 for birthday party reservations.


Deposits and Payments

A 50% non-refundable deposit is due upon booking. Final payment is due no later than one week prior to your reserved date.

Saturday
11 am (10:30 - 11 set up time, 11 - 11:45 party time, 11:45 - 12 clean up)
1 pm (12:30 - 1 set up time, 1 - 1:45 party time, 1:45 - 2 clean up) 
3 pm (2:30 - 3 set up time, 3 - 3:45 party time, 3:45 - 4 clean up)

Sunday
1 pm (12:30 - 1 set up time, 1 - 1:45 party time, 1:45 - 2 clean up)
3 pm (2:30 - 3 set up time, 3 - 3:45 party time, 3:45 - 4 clean up)

Weekday afternoon, school holidays and summer breaks times available upon request.


Birthday party guests

Standard package: Price includes gallery admission for up to 10 children, including the birthday child. Additional children are $5 each. All children must be paid for, regardless of their membership status. One child per parent is admitted free. Extra adults must pay applicable admission rates.
Deluxe package: Price includes gallery admission for up to 10 children, including the birthday child. Additional children are $10 each. All children must be paid for, regardless of their membership status. Extra adults must pay applicable admission rates.
Maximum total is 30 guests.


Guest check in

Please advise your guests to arrive 5 - 15 minutes prior to your scheduled party time to allow time for check-in.
